GWK
(Garuda Wisnu Kencana)

Discover Bali’s most iconic landmark and take an unforgettable journey through the unique themed area of GWK Cultural Park. Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a cultural park also known as GWK. The site is open to the elements and stretches across 250 hectares of land. The main centrepiece of the complex is a large statue of Vishnu, an important Hindu god, atop a mythical Indonesian garuda bird. The site also has a range of stages where you can catch a cultural show and there are also music festivals and other art-related events held here throughout the year.

Abandoned Airplane

There are two abandoned Boeing 737s in Bali. They sit on the same end of the island, about five kilometres apart. No one seems to know for sure how a Boeing 737 ended up here. “The reason it has been left incomplete without any single hint of ongoing development remains a mystery.” Worth a visit to discover the unknown and get your perfect Instagram picture.

Uluwatu Temple

The Uluwatu Temple is widely considered to be one of the top attractions in the area. The temple is known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu in Indonesian and it is one of the most iconic sights on the island. The temple sits atop a craggy scenic bluff looking over the Bukit peninsula and is one of the most important sea temples in Bali. It is also surrounded by forest lands which are full of macaques.

TRADITIONAL KECAK DANCE

The Kecak Fire Dance is one of Bali’s most iconic art performances, which takes place at a clifftop amphitheatre near Uluwatu Temple. Tiered concrete seating surrounds the sunken centrepiece stage, offering impressive views of the Indian Ocean. For added drama, this sunset dance show uses fire and human vocals in place of gamelan instruments.

Surfing

Uluwatu is Bali’s premier hotspot for surfers and tourists wanting to check out the surfing talent. Uluwatu is a wide reef set below a stunning cliff face offering different peaks that turn on at different tides. All of the surf breaks run left down the reef with variations in sections that change with the size of the swell also. The cliff and beach at Uluwatu are always bustling with energy and makes for a spectacular viewing platform.

Jimbaran Fish Market

Kedonganan Fish Market is a traditional wet market where most of the fresh catches are sourced from in southern Bali. It’s about 3.6 metres north of Jimbaran Beach, with the western runway of Ngurah Rai International Airport in sight. At the largest fresh seafood market in Bali, you’ll find almost any type of saltwater catch, from common red snappers to rare mahi-mahis. Visit just after sunrise to see fishermen unloading their nets full of sardines, larger catches such as mahi-mahi being weighed for auction, and shrimps, crabs, lobster and a huge variety of sea harvests displayed in rows of ice containers, ready for retail bargain or wholesale.

Golf

You can find the best golf courses of Bali in Uluwatu that offer a good combination of challenging greens and well-maintained fairways that are seamlessly landscaped into some of Bali’s most stunning locations. In many cases, sweeping forested scenery serves as a backdrop to your swing and some of these great Bali golf courses also feature signature holes set over the island’s famous reef breaks.
